April 23, 2015 Update

April 23, 2015

Hello, from Matt Neeson '15 & Jeff Higman '15

We hope this email finds you well. Our names are Matt Neeson ‘15 and Jeff Higman ‘15 and we are in charge of this year’s Sigma Chi Derby Days philanthropy event. We have had a week filled with awesome events and have managed to raise a good amount of money so far. We will be donating the money we raise to OligoNation. This foundation was created by the family of a recently graduated brother, Spencer Greene ‘14. Spencer has been battling a rare form of brain cancer for a few years now and serves as an inspiration to the men within our chapter. We would like to open up our doors for any donations you may wish to send our way. All of the money will be donated to Spencer and his family’s foundation to aid in the research and fight against this terrible form of brain cancer. All donations can be sent to

We are also selling T-shirts that are pretty neat so if that is of interest let us know and we will organize a shipment to you. If there are any questions we have included our contact information below. We think this a great cause to raise money for and we hope that you may feel the same. Thank you for your time.

In hoc,
Matt Neeson ‘15

April 27, 2015 Update

Mu Chapter Consul, Christian Miranda '15

April 27, 2015

This past week was a busy one, but it was productive and fun! It was our Derby Days philanthropy. We were lucky to have all five of the sororities participate in the events, all of them bringing something new to the table.

By far our most profitable event was the Brother Auction, where Mu Sigs were sold to teach a talent to the highest bidding sorority. Our highest bid –$210 – was for breakfast to be served in bed from the newest members! Not even a week in the fraternity and they are helping a tremendous amount.

We will know the total numbers for donations and such this week and will be giving it to the Spencer Greene ‘14 foundation soon. On that note, we have a tremendous amount of shirts left, so to reiterate the message that I passed along earlier from Brother Neeson ‘15, if anyone would like a shirt please let me know and we would be happy to get it to you. I know that Sandy Thomson ’57 already bought one and gave an extra donation. These donations go a long way so please consider it.

This past week we had the Richard C. Harman '35 Life Loyal Sig Award Dinner. Although we did not have the attendance that we had hoped, we were able to continue a tradition that I believe will grow to become an annual event that will honor Richard C. Harman ‘35, the Mu Chapter, and the recipient of the award. I think what is most important is that there were a good amount of alumni there and they were able to connect with the new initiates and give them insight on what it means to be a Sigma Chi. This connection is one that I think they will not soon forget.

In hoc,

Christian Miranda ’15, Consul
