Charles William Butler '49

William 'Bill' Butler of Salem, Ohio, entered the Chapter Eternal on November 8, 2013. He was 89.

Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 training as a naval pilot. After 4 years, he continued with the Navy Reserves for an additional 14 years.

He worked for Salem Engineering and the 3M Company early in his career. In the mid-1950s, he bought the Suburban Trailer Park and Sales in Niles, Ohio, operating it successfully for nearly 18 years.

During retirement, he enjoyed flying general aviation aircraft such as the American Champion Citabria and the Cherokee Archher. He loved automibiles, golfing, fixing his jet boat, and visiting his children and their families in Georgia and Maryland.

He married Pat Keener '49 in the First Presbyterian Church and became a life-long devoted member of that church in Salem. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Christopher.

All honor to his name.
