Robert R. DeVore '53

Bob DeVore '53Bob DeVore, of Fort Wayne, Indiana entered the Chapter Eternal on Thursday, December 11, 2014. He was 84.

Born April 11, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, Bob was founder of DeVore, Chapel and Pyle Inc. He previously was with Aetna Life and Casualty from 1955 to 1970 and Insurance and Risk Management from 1970 to 1991. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Church of Christ, Longboat Key, Florida, Indiana and National Underwriters, Million Dollar Roundtable, Fort Wayne Country Club, American Legion Post 82, Kiwanis International, Rotary Club and was a Chartered Life Underwriter and U.S. Navy veteran.

As a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity at Denison University, he learned the meaning of fraternity and remained a loyal and active alumnus his entire life. He was a member of Denison's track team and played football.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Carol DeVore of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughters, Amy Getschow and Natalie (John) Chapel, both of Fort Wayne; son, Rob (Tammy) DeVore of Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren, Nicholas and Leah Chapel, Alec, Kurt, and Lindsay Getschow; and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Asher Getschow.
