Andrew "Gus" Pryor '57

Gus PryorAn Army veteran, Gus entered the Chapter Eternal on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. Born in Newark on March 4, 1935, he was 79. His death resulted from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Son of the late Byron B. and Anne W. (Tees) Pryor, Gus graduated from Newark High School and continued his education at Denison University where he earned a degree in physics. He was employed as a financial analyst with Merrill Lynch and later worked in education and with nonprofit agencies.

A member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Gus will be remembered as a kind and friendly person who loved his family. He was an avid reader and bridge player who enjoyed his time spent at the Granville Senior Center and with his "coffee clutch" friends. A former swimmer, he was also a sports fan and closely followed Newark High and Denison athletics. He was a loyal Denison alumnus and maintained close ties to Mu Chapter of Sigma Chi all his adult life.

Surviving are his children, Meg Pryor of New York City, NY and Byron and Jennifer Pryor of Pittsburgh, PA; grandsons, Joshua, Andrew, Ryan, and Michael; former wives, Barbara Pryor, mother to his children, and Maura O'Donnell; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gus was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Pryor who died in 1985 and brother, Edwin "Ned" Pryor.
